“Here at the WCU Speech and Hearing Clinic, we are preparing for our second summer of Camp LEAD (Language/Literacy Engagement and Development).
Throughout the spring, we have been spreading the word about this opportunity for children with speech, language, and/or literacy disorders to engage in a positive, encouraging, and fun environment that supports their communication development. Children from Jackson, Macon, and Swain Counties have registered for Camp LEAD. Some children are returning for their second summer, while others will be participating for the first time. When I asked the mother of a child who participated in Camp LEAD last summer, whether they’d like to participate again in 2022, the mother replied, “Definitely! [My child] has been asking if you’ll have it again this summer.”
Thank you for your continued and expanded support of Camp LEAD, the WCU Speech and Hearing Clinic, and the children of western North Carolina, especially the ones who can’t wait to come to Camp LEAD a second summer!”
